PropNex Blazed A Trail With New Initiative To Support Real Estate Salespersons; Contributed S$5 Mil To Charity

Latest Property Real Estate News - Published on 25/08/2022

Singapore 25 August 2022 – PropNex, Singapore’s largest real estate agency has today held its annual Mid-Year Convention to recognise the top performers of 1H2022. The event was graced by guest-of-honour Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Finance and National Development. Ms Indranee highlighted the importance of a strong partnership between the Government and the industry in raising the professional standards of property agents. She also commended the company for taking the lead in establishing a union-like structure – Real Estate Salespersons Chapter, that has given self-employed real estate salespersons a much-needed platform to raise issues and concerns they faced.

Giving Self-employed Salespersons The Voice They Need

PropNex is the first-ever real estate agency to have a formalised framework, supported by Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Union (SISEU), in empowering salespersons and strengthening its platform as a fair and progressive Real Estate Agency.

Launched in 2021, the PropNex Real Estate Salespersons Chapter – Agents’ Voice Matters allow salespersons to take the lead in playing a more active role in voicing their concerns and educating fellow PropNex salespersons on fair practices in the industry. With PropNex taking the lead to protect the salespersons, Ms Indranee encouraged other agencies to also consider setting up a similar chapter to empower real estate salespersons.

Ms Indranee said, “I am heartened to see PropNex, as one of the industry leaders, taking the lead and looking into the welfare and interests of property agents. While property agents today are considered self-employed persons, this does not mean that property agencies cannot provide more protection for their property agents through a union supported structure. I commend PropNex’s effort in creating a fair and progressive work environment and would encourage the other agencies to do the same too.”

Raised $5 Million For Charity Since 2013, Including S$800,000 To Community Chest In 2022

As a homegrown company, PropNex believes in giving back to the community and in creating social impact. This year, PropNex is contributing S$800,000 to the Community Chest, taking the firm’s total contribution to the charity to S$5 million since 2013 – ahead of its initial target to raise S$5 million by 2023 for communities in need. The S$800,000-donation cheque was presented to Mr Chew Sutat, Chairman of the Community Chest, and witnessed by Ms Indranee. As the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility philosophy focuses on empowering the younger generation, the beneficiaries were selected for their programmes that support children with special needs and those from lower-income families. These are the Autism Resource Centre, Life Community Services Society, SHINE Children and Youth Services, Care Corner Student Care Centres (two locations – Woodlands & Admiralty), and PERTAPIS Education and Welfare Centre.

First launched in 2013, this annual donation drive – with contributions from the company and its salespersons – continues to signal the strength of PropNex’s commitment in playing its part in uplifting communities. PropNex salespersons are always encouraged to actively give back to the less privileged in the community amidst their success in the real estate industry. In a move that is the first of its kind, PropNex’s salespersons have been pledging a portion of their commission to Community Chest’s regular giving SHARE programme since 2013. Through this, they have been able to donate regularly and conveniently. Additionally, salespersons could voluntarily contribute part of their commission to the ‘PropNex Cares’ initiative which then qualifies them to be PropNex’s Platinum Charity Ambassadors.

Besides contributing towards the annual donation to Community Chest, a total of 20 salespersons stepped forward this year to give a minimum of S$10,000 each. Jasmine Toh, a Platinum Charity Ambassador and Millionaire Producer of 2021 who contributed S$40,000 this year shared, “It is meaningful and it is our way of helping the beneficiaries that we have adopted this year.”

PropNex Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ismail Gafoor highlighted at the event, “Our goal set in 2013 was to contribute S$5 million by 2023, and we are heartened that this was met a year ahead. Our cumulative efforts in raising money for the less fortunate are always in our minds, no matter how successful we become. We are currently working towards raising another S$400,000 by end of this year for the Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home. Adding value to the lives of others has been our core values since the firm’s inception and I look forward to seeing more PropNex salespersons contributing to society – not only monetary contributions but also be the force of change in the community.”

Chairman of Community Chest, Mr Chew Sutat said, “By rallying its salespersons to participate in Community Chest’s SHARE programme and its other company initiatives, PropNex has exemplified the power of collective and sustained giving. I hope other companies will be similarly inspired to partner Community Chest, to enable giving as a part of living, so that we can build a caring and inclusive home for all.”

Beyond Monetary Contribution

Apart from the monetary donations, PropNex is also committed to spending time with those in need and to add joy to their lives, whenever possible. Over the years, PropNex has organised several events to bring delight to children from various beneficiaries. These included trips to the Jurong Bird Park and Resorts World Universal Studio, and even cooking classes. PropNex looks forward to impacting more individuals with its charity efforts and contributions for many more years to come.

Regional Expansion For Propnex, Venturing Into A New Continent

In line with PropNex’s aspirations to be a leading regional real estate agency, the company expanded its footprint into Victoria, Australia – marking its presence in the sixth market in the Asia Pacific, including Singapore. PropNex Victoria was officially launched during the Convention and it was witnessed by over 2,000 salespersons, overseas franchise partners, and invited guests.

PropNex Victoria has an office in Melbourne, helmed by a core team of dedicated real estate professionals who have already secured multiple collaborations with reputable builders and developers to market premium locations. These locations include Melbourne CBD, Southbank, Yarra Bend in Alphington, as well as popular promising growth suburbs such as Cranbourne East and North, Pakenham, Officer, Berwick, Werribee, Mernda, Epping and Wyndham Vale.

“This is an important step for PropNex as we expand our footprint beyond South East Asia. As a mature economy, Australia’s vibrant and well-developed property market will bring many potential opportunities across our PropNex network in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Those who have migrated or are permanent residents call Australia their second home, while Australian universities are highly regarded by international students pursuing their tertiary studies. We believe this franchise will bring about valuable synergy across both regions,” Mr Gafoor commented.
